The kyudo dan examination includes, farther than a practical examination, a written examination.

The questions for 2nd, 3rd and 4th dan examination in the 2010 Tokyo Special Examination was:

  • 2nd dan: Explain how kyudo is different from other sports
  • 3rd dan: Explain gojujumonji
  • 4th dan: Explain the structure of kai

First Sekai Kyudo Taikai – Italian Team

In the First World Cup kyudo the Italian team has passed the first stage qualifying to the finals. Then passed against Sweden reaching the semifinals. In the semifinal, was overcome by U.K. (the movie refer to this match). Finally they placed fourth, losing against Finland in the third and fourth place final.

First Kyudo World Cup – Mudan – San Dan Competition

Here are the winners of the mudan sandan competition:

  2. Silver medal – Ruth Gysin – Switzerland

First Sekai Kyudo Taikai – Princess Takamado

At the First Sekai Kyudo Taikai held recently in Tokyo there was Princess Takamado. Princess Takamado is a member of Japanese Imperial Family and she’s Honorary Chairman of The International Kyudo Federation.

First Kyudo World Cup – Individual competition

In the recent First Sekai Kyudo Taikai held in Tokyo, in addition to the team competition, there were also three individual competitions: one for up to sandan, one for yondan and upper and the other for shogo.

In all competitions kyudoka had to shoot two arrows and hit the target with both to qualify to the finals.

Shogo classification:

  1. Hoff Feliks  – Germany – Kyoushi 6 dan (on the right in the picture)
  2. Luzet Claude – France – Kyoushi 6 dan (on the left in the picture)

The bronze medal were not assigned because only 2 kyudoka qualified hitting 2/2

Yon dan and upper classification:

  1. Shannon Cynthia – USA – IV dan

Mudan – san dan classification

I don’t remember the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If someone know it please tell me the names.

First Kyudo World Cup – Team competition – The results

Twenty countries from all over the world have partecipated to the event. The first three placement are:

  • Gold Medal: France
  • Silver Medal: UK
  • Bronze Medal: Finland

In the semifinal the winner team placed a fantastic 12 hitting on 12 shooting that means that all the three archers have paced in the target all the arrows they shooted (in Japanese this is called Kaichu). Congratulation to the winners. Good also the 4th position of Italy.

First Kyudo World Cup

The International Kyudo Federation (IKYF) will host in April 2010 the First Kyudo World Cup. The competition will take place in Tokyo at All Nippon Kyudo Federation Chuo-Dojo and Meiji-Jingu Shiseikan Kyudojo.

There will be a team and an individual competition.

Schedule:

Saturday ,24, April 2010 Team competition, Individual competition: mudan – 3rd dan

Sunday, 25, April 2010 Individual competition: 4th dan, 5th dan, Shogo(Renshi, Kyoshi)
